PERKS OF ALL GIRLS' COLLEGE

All across the world, students who have completed their high schools, set forth in researching about higher institutions. But one point that gains our attention is the 'education of girls'. We have reached great heights in educating our girls. There are people, who prefer all girls' institutions, rather than co-ed institutions. Such people are often criticised by the society. But somehow people fail to understand the sole purpose of being in a girls' college. I myself being a student of girls' college, have realised it’s uncountable benefits.

As Martin Luther King Jr. stated ‘Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.’ An all girls' college serves it all. Some of the benefits are listed below :-

Conventionally, studying in a girls' college is metaphorically related to ‘purdah system' within the 'empire' of patriarchy. However, the fecundity of this ‘closed room' is evident in the independence and self-development of the woman in her own space, language and ideologies ( free from patriarchal surveillance).

The idea of gender equality often holds the ‘man' as the ideal human to which a woman should be treated equally. The girls' college allows smooth transfusion of ideas and experience among different women, establishing an alternative of an ‘ideal woman'.

A girls' college allows a free flow of ideas without the inherent hesitations in the presence of a male figure. The talks about menstruation, sex, rape and other ‘hushed' topics become important discourse which needs discussion and action.

Some co-ed colleges don't allow girls to wear certain clothes in the campus. But in an all girls' college, you don’t have to bother about people staring at you all the time. So, overall you can simply dress the way you want and no one is going to judge you.

Moreover, outside college you are the talk of the town, everyone wants to know what happens at you college. You are exotic to others.

However, studies show that women in all girls' college tend to be more successful in their careers; they tend to earn more and are seen much happier. They are a complete package, with a gorgeous and pretty face and land up having an intelligent brain too.
